How’s Your Credibility and Credit with Followers?

December 20, 2012

Because leaders are on display 24/7/365, they’re always exposed to issues of credibility and trust.  This is just one reason not everyone is cut out to be a leader.  You’ve no doubt witnessed political candidates bowing out of a race or business or religious leaders resigning because someone dug up dirt that exposed them to public disgrace or personal misery.

In this age of marketing, campaigning, lobbying and making strange political bedfellows, it can be hard to maintain one’s image.  A good starting point, however, is to begin with your own idea of who you want to be and by what standards you choose to live. Integrity means living in alignment with the ideals you embrace. This is also a source of your credibility, and it’s your “credibility” that gives you “credit” with others.
